 Bob Dietz was a basketball star at Washington High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, He played three years at Butler University  for Hall of Fame coach Tony Hinkle. During World War II, Dietz played for the powerful Great Lakes Naval Training Center team. Dietz had a service interrupted four year professional basketball career with his hometown Indianapolis Kautskys. Dietz was an assistant to Tony Hinkle at Butler University for 24 years.
