DUTCH DORMAN

STATISTICS & HISTORY

Fred “Dutch” Dorman was a talented all-around athlete from Brooklyn. He played professional basketball for seven seasons in the 1920’s and played minor-league professional baseball for twenty-eight seasons from the 1920’s until the late 1940’s. Dorman exhibited impressive skills on the basketball court. One newspaper reporter described him as “small bundle of aggression and speed.”  During the 1925-26 season, he was a top-ten scorer in the fast Metropolitan  Basketball league.  When he was just 25 years old, Dorman retired from basketball to devote his full energies to his baseball career.
