JOHN BRUCE

Bruce Blout (John Bruce) was a baseball and basketball star at Rhode Island State. He wasa member of ROTC in college and entered the Army after graduation. While on leave in February of 1951, he played for the Evansville Agogans in the National Professional Basketball League. He played under the name “John Bruce” because military personnel were not permitted to play professional sports. Blout served in the army for 22 years and saw action in both the  Korean and Vietname Wars.  He retired with the rank of Lieutenant General.
