Alfred “Al” Caruso was a three-sport star at James Madison high School in Brooklyn. He duplicated the feat at Manhattan College were he lettered for three seasons in football, basketball and baseball. Caruso appeared in just one professional basketball game, but had greater success in three years as the quarterback for the Jersey City Giants of the American Football League from 1939 through 1941. Caruso served in the military during World War II.
