STATISTICS & HISTORY
Ralph “Babe KLotz was a long time star of the famed Philadelphia SPHAS. Klotz played one year of college basketball at Girard College in Philalelphia. The following year he enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania , but did not play basketball at the school. Instead, he embarked on professional basketball career that spanned thirteen seasons. Klotz gained a reputation as one on the better centers of the era. Klotz, who had been a track and field star in high school, used his superior athletic ability to advantage against bigger opponents. In era when most pro basketball players also had full time jobs, Klotz enjoyed a successful thirty-three year career with the Army Corps of Engineers.
