Joe Geary was a prominant figure in Brooklyn basketball circles for four decades. He was a scholastic star at St.Francis Prep in Brooklyn. In his senior year he led the baseball team in hitting and the basketball team in scoring. Geary then played basketball at St Francis College in Brooklyn for four seasons. He followed up with three seasons of pro basketball in Brooklyn and then embarked on a very sucessful coaching career at Holy Trinty High School in Brooklyn that extended into the mid 1960’s.
