ABEL RODRIGUES

Abel Rodrigues was a basketball and baseball star at San Jose High School. While still in high school , he  played for the San Francisco Elks  in the 1941  National AAU basketball tournement in Denver. Rodriegues played one year at Salinas JC and  played one year st University of San Francisco before entering military service during World War II. After stints in both the Marines and the Navy, Rodriegues re-nrolled at the University of San Francisco. During the 1947-48 season, Rodrigues led the Dons in scoring with 10.9 points per game.  Rodrigues played pro basketball for just one season (1947-48) , performing for teams in three different leagues.  In 1975, Rodrigues  founded R&W Concrete Contractors. R&W Concrete built and completed many high profile projects such as the San Franciso Cable Car renovation, the Moscone Convention Center, and the Bay Bridge.
