STATISTICS & HISTORY
Art Stoefen was a star athlete at Los Angeles High School. Stoefen attended Stanford University where he played alongside Hall of Fame forward Hank Luisetti. Together, they led the Cardinals to a 68–11 record over their three varsity seasons. As a senior, Stoefen was named a second-team All-American. Stoefen spent most of his post-collegiate career playing AAU ball in Los Angeles. Stoefen spent one season with the Chicago Cavaliers who were members of the AAU Missouri Valley Basketball League. During the 1945-46, Stoefen played for the Los Angles Shamrocks in the AAU American Basketball League. Stoefen played for the Los Angeles Red Devils with future baseball Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson in 1946–47. Late in the season, Stoefen, along with teammates Irv Noren and Bob Cotton, joined the Chicago Gears in the National Basketball League.
