Bill Schrader played high school basketball in Lafayette, Indiana. Schrader, along with teammate Leo Crowe, both enrolled at Notre Dame.  While Crowe became a star for the Irish, Schrader’s athletic career in South Bend was disappointing. Schrader played professional basketball for a half-dozen seasons including two years with the Detroit Hed-Aids, a strong independent team. During the 1935-36 season, Schrader was the starting center for Indianapolis US Tire team in the Midwest Basketball Conference.
