Bill Brunner was a record-setting athlete at Far Rockaway High School in Queens, New York. After graduating from Packard Commercial School in New York City, Brunner embarked on a highly successful career the insurance and real-estate business. From 1922 until 1928, Brunner served in the New York State Assembly. In 1929, he was elected to the the U.S. Congress were he served for six years.
