Bill Schroeder was a basketball and football star at Central High School in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Schroeder played football at the University of Wisconsin before entering military service in 1943. After World War II, Schroeder briefly played basketball for his hometown Sheboygan team in the National Basketball League. Schroeder also played professional football for the Chicago Rockets in the All-American Football Conference in 1946 and 1947.
