STATISTICS & HISTORY
Bob Grody, who grew up in Manhattan, was a long time fixture in New York City sports circles. He was a talented all-around athlete who excelled at both baseball and basketball. He was hard-throwing pitcher who was a fixture on New York area semi-pro baseball teams for parts of two decades. He was good enough to attract the attention of famed New York Giants manager John McGraw. Grody enjoyed even greater success in his twenty-two year career as a professional basketball player. Grody, who was a muscular six -foot-two inches and two-hundred and fiftteen pounds, blended size, surprising agility and tenacity to make himself an outstanding defender and much in-demand player for over twenty years.
