Eddie McCluskey attended Pittsburgh’s South High School. He went to college at Washington and Jefferson, where he was a three-year starter on the basketball team. After graduation, McCluskey played independent professional basketball . He began his coaching career in the early 1940’s at Burgettstown High School. In 1948 McCluskey, was hired as basketball coach at Farrell High School. During his 28-year career at Farrell, he finished with 590 wins and 153 losses and captured seven Pennsylvania High School championships. McCluskey’s overall scholastic coaching record was 687-233.
