Emil Sotnyl was a three-sport star at Ford City High School. He led the Pennsylvania school to two consecutive WPAL basketball championships. Sotnyk enrolling at the Virginia Military Institute, where he played varsity football and baseball and basketball. After graduation wit engineering, he served in the Army during World War II.
