STATISTICS & HISTORY
GGeorge Senesky was high school basketball star from Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania. Senesky played four years of varsity basketball for St. Joseph’s college in Philadelphia. In his senior year, Senesky led the nation in scoring with 23.4 point per game and was named an All-American and the Helms Foundation College Basketball Player of the Year. After military service in World War II, Senesky played for the Philadelphia Sphas during the 1945-46 American Basketball season. In the fall of 1946 Senesky joined the Philadelphia Warriors of the newly formed Basketball Association of America. The Warriors captured the initinal BAA (NBA) title. Senesky played with the Warriors for seven more seasons before he retired as player in 1953. Two seasons after retiring from the Warriors, Senesky returned to coach the team to a 45-27 record. The Warriors then went on beat the Fort Wayne Pistons in five games to win the the 1955-56 NBA championship.
