HARVEY MARTENS

In the earl 1940s, Harvey Martins, along with future NBA player Ed Ehlers were the mainstays of the strong South Bend Central High School teams coached by future Hall of Fame coach, John Wooden. Martens and Ehlers enrolled together at Purdue University, but Martens dropped out midway through his freshman year and transferred to  George Washington University. After serving in the army for two years, Martens joined the Dow Chemical Company of Midland Michigan and played independent basketball for the company team for three seasons.
