PLAYER PROFILE

JOE NEIDL

STATISTICS & HISTORY

Joe Neidl was one of the most talented players to emerge in upstate New York during the 1920’s. Tall, by the standards of the era, Neidl was usually the fastest player on the court as well.   Neidl’s career coincided with the decline of the once powerful New York State Basketball League. As a result of this, Neidl spent most of his years in pro basketball playing for independent teams, usually playing for three or four teams concurrently.  His speed and height allowed him to move seamlessly from position to position based on the needs of each team. Neidl’s most satisfying experience was the 1923-24 season he spent with Cohoes in the New York State League, Playing along side Benny Borgmann and Nick Harvey, two of the best players of the era, Neidl was a major contributor to the team’s first place finish.
