EDDIE WHITE

Eddie White was one of the best offensive players to come out of Brooklyn in the early years of pro basketball. In his prime, he was among the fastest and most elusive players in the game. White finished among the top-ten scorers in seven of the nine seasons he played. White played for Bridgeport during 1916-17, his first full pro season. The team won the first-half of split season, but did not return for second half of season. The players were parceled out to other teams for second half, but then reunited for the playoffs and captured the Interstate League championship.  White finished fifth in league scoring and followed up with a 4th-place finish the next season. In the 1919-20 season, he was leading the circuit in scoring before the league folded at midseason. White had two top-ten finishes during a three-year stint in the Eastern League. In 1922, he returned to Brooklyn to play for the Visitation and finished third in Metropolitan League scoring. White spent the next year and half with Yonkers before he returned to the Visitation in late January of 1925. His arrival coincided with a resurgence by Brooklyn that propelled them to the league championship. White was fifth in MBL scoring during the 1925-26, his last full season.
