ED Stanczak was a basketball the star at Fort Wayne’s Central Catholic High School, the two time state state and national Catholic High School Champions. Stanczak was a bruising, rough and tumble player whose over aggressive style of play was legendary.

Joe Stampf enjoyed an outstanding playing career at the University of Chicago from 1938-41 and capped his career as the Big Ten scoring leader in 1940-41. Stampf was the head coach of the University of Chicago basketball team from 1957 until 1975. He retired as the winningest coach in UC men’s basketball history with 208 victories, as well as a .638 winning percentage and two NCAA postseason tournament berths.
