Clarence Francis “Pop” Foster was a three-sport star at New York Universty between 1896 and 1898. He played varsity football, basketball and baseball for two years. In 1898, he signed a contract to play professional baseball for the New York Giants. Foster was an outfield outfielder for the Giants, the Washington Senators and the Chicago White Sox. He played prsofessional baseball for 18 seasons, four at the Major League level and 14 in the minors . During the summer of 1919, Foster was player-manager of the Reading Tri-State Baseball League team. In the fall of 1909, Foster signed up to for the Reading Eastern Basketball league team, but appeared in just one game.
