Press Maravich had a brief, World War II interrupted, career in professional basketball. Maravich remained active in basketball over the next four decades as a college basketball coach: West Virginia Wesleyan (1949-50), David & Elkins (1950-52) , Clemson (1956-62) , North Carolina State (1964-66) , Louisiana State University (1966-72) and Appalachian State (1972-75). His overall record in twenty-one seasons of college coaching was 234 wins and 289 losses. He coached his son , Pete Maravich, for three seasons at LSU. Pete, a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, is the all-time leading scorer in NCAA Division I basketball with 3,667 points and an average of 44.2 points per game.
