TOMMY EDWARDS

STATISTICS & HISTORY

Tommy Edwards was a football, basketball and baseball star at Woodward High School in Toledo. Edwards played independent basketball for Toledo teams throughout the 1930’s. In the fall of 1941, Edwards was named coach of the Jim White Chevrolets, a longtime Toledo indpendent team, that had joined the National Basketball League for the 1941-42 season. It turned out to be a chaotic experience for everyone involved. Twenty-three players appeared on the Toledo roster during the course of the season, including a one game appearance by Edwards himself, on route to a disastrous 3-21 record.
