Ben Ford was a basketball star  at Wilkes-Barre Township High School. Ben also enjoyed an outstanding AAU and independent club career. After a  brief two-game flirtation with professional basketball, Ford entered East Strounburh State Teachers College in 1941. Over the next three years, Ford, along with future pros Pete Pasko and John Mascavage, produced the most successful seasons in school history. In January of 1944, Ford was killed in action fighting in World War II.
