Robert Sigholtz was a four-sport high-school star in Philadelphia. Sigholtz had a distinguished record as a combat infantryman in three wars. He enlisted in the Army in 1942 and rose from a platoon sergeant to an infantry lieutenant in the China-Burma theater during World War II. He was a reconnaissance officer during the Korean War and later served in special forces units and as a battalion commander in 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam. After his military service, he joined the faculty at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. as a professor of military science. He served for three years as Georgetown’s athletic director and later was the general manager of the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium.

Sam Siegel was a popular sports figure in Buffalo, New York throughout the 1920’s and 1930’s. He starred in basketball and football at Hutchinson High and then attended the University of Buffalo where he again excelled in football and basketball. Siegel played professional basketball for twelve seasons. During the 1930’s, he promoted pro basketball in Buffalo and served as player-coach on independent and league teams representing the city.
