BOB SHAW

Bob Shaw lettered three times each in football, basketball and track at Ross High School in Fremont, Ohio. He was first team All-Ohio in both football and basketball. Shaw attended Ohio State University where he lettered in football, basketball and track. Playing right end, on both offense and defense, Shaw was part of the Buckeyes’ first NCAA National Championship team in 1942 and was named a first-team All American for that season. After service in World War II, he began his professional career in both basketball and football. He played football in the fall for the Cleveland Rams in the National Football League. In the spring, He joined the National Basketball League spending time with both the Cleveland and Youngstown teams. Shaw spent six years in the NFL and two years in the Canadian Football League before he retired after the 1952 season. Over the next two decades, Shaw remained active in football as a coach in both the NFL and CFL.

AL SHAW

Al Shaw was the head basketball coach at Williams College from 1949 until 1973. During his 24 seasons at the Massachusetts school, he compiled a 324-104 record.

ED SHAVER

Ed Shaver was a scholastic sports star at Frankfort High School in Indiana. He was a two-year starter on Frankfort’s undefeated football team, but his real prowess was on the basketball court. He was named an All-State guard as a sophomore, playing for 1929 state championship team. Shaver was captain of the Frankfort team the next two seasons and again was named to the All-State team. Everett Case, the legendary coach of Frankfort High School and future Basketball Hall of Famer, named Shaver as a member of his all-time high school team. Shaver played college basketball at Purdue University. He was a starting guard for on three conference championship teams, twice was named all-Big 10 and in his senior year was named to Chuck Taylor’s All-American team. Shaver played professional basketball for one year with the Indianapolis Kautskys and spent one year in Missouri Valley AAU League before beginning a successful business career.
