Angus Nicoson was a standout basketball and baseball player player at Indiana Central University from 1938 until 1942. he was a key member of the school’s nationally ranked 1941 and 1942 basketball teams that won 30 straight games. Nicoson served as Indiana Central University basketball coach and Athletic Director from 1948-1977. He retired with a 483-279 basketball coaching record. Nicoson was elected the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame and the Helms Foundation Basketball Hall of Fame.

Ralph Vincguerra was standout basketball player at North High School in Akron, Ohio. In 1939, he led North High to the the Ohio state scholastic basketball championship. Vincguerra played three years of varsity basketball at Notre Dame. After finishing his senor season, in the the spring of 1943 , he joined the Detroit Eagles, a powerful, independent team and played in two games in the pro basketball championship tournament in Chicago.
