After serving in the army World War II, Dick Lynch entered Loras College midway through the 1943-44 school year. Over the course of the next three and half years, Lynch led Loras to three consecutive Iowa Conference titles, losing only one game in the process. Lynch was moved well for a big man. After playing at center for two and half seasons, i Lynch became the team’s playmaking guard during his senior year. In 1947, Lynch played seven games of professional basketball for the Waterloo Hawks in the short-lived Professional Basketball League of America.

Eddie “Ace” Lynch was a native of Northampton, Massachusetts who served in World War 1 and played professional basketball for two seasons before he entered Catholic University in Washington, D.C. in 1921. “Ace” Lynch was Catholic University’s first great athletic star. During his senior football season (1923), he played fullback, threw passes, punted, returned kicks and was the team’s placekicker. He had a hand in every point scored in the final game of his career, a 26-0 victory over George Washington. Lynch was the Cardinal’s basketball team’s leading scorer as a junior (174 points) and senior (142). On the baseball diamond, Lynch was power-hitting outfielder. After college. Lynch went on to play four seasons in the National Football League. In 1925, his rookie season, he was named first-team All Pro as a member of the Rochester Jeffersons. He also played professional basketball throughout the late 1920’s with a teams in Detroit.

James “Jimmy” Lynch was a basketball and baseball star at at Cathedral Prep High School in Brooklyn. Lynch attended St Francis College in Brooklyn for two years and later had brief stints playing professional basketball and baseball.

Emil Lussow was a standoutfour-year athlete for the University of Dubuque in football, basketball, and track. In football, he was named AP “Little” All-American in 1942. He also married the homecoming queen. On the Basketball Court, Lussow was a four-year letter winner and team captain as a senior. He averaged 15 points per game for his career. Lussow served in the army for four year during World War II. In 1947, Lussow played five major-league games for the Waterloo Pro-Hawks of the Professional Basketball League of America in 1947-48.
