SWEDE CARLSON
Donald “Swede” Carlson” was the star of the the 1936-37 Minneapolis Edison High School quintet that won the Minnesota state high school basketball championship. Carlson played varsity basketball at the University of Minnesota for three years before serving in the army for four years during World War II. After returning the University of Minnesota for his senior year, Carlson started his pro basketball career in 1946 with Chicago of the newly-formed Basketball Association of America. Carlson was named MVP of the the Stags who finished in first-place in the Western Division. Carlson joined his hometown Minneapolis Lakers in 1947. Carlson was integral part of the team that won both the National Basketball League and the World Basketball Tournament championships. Carlson played for the Lakers for two more seasons and won two more championships.

KEITH CAREY
Keith Carey was one of the greatest athletes in the history of Alma College. Carey was a four year letterman in football, basketball and track. Carey was named three times All-MIAA in basketball. After service in World War II, Carey played independent pro basketball with the Midland Dows for three seasons. Carey also spent one year in the National Basketball League playing for the Dows, who split the season between Midland and Flint, Michigan.

VINCE CAPRARO
Vince Capraro was a talented all around athlete in high school in the Bronx , New York. He played basketball at New York City College of New York for one years before he entered the Marines 1n 1942 were he served for four years during World War II. After the war, Capraro enrolled at the Hans Hoffman School of Fine Arts in Greenwich Village. He spent over a decade in France and Italy studying art. After returning to New York in the early 1960s, Capraro’s early works caught the attention of American celebrity collectors including actors Vincent Price and Anthony Quinn and opera singer Robert Merrill. Capraro remained active as a painter and teacher well into his 90’s . He died in 2016 at age 96.
