Chet Strumillo was the captain of the Morton High School basketball squad that won the Illinois state high school championship in 1941. Srumillo captained the University of Illinois frosh basketball team. After his first year of college, he entered the army where he served for three years during World War II. After his return from the service, he played basketall for three years at Northestern University. He was team captain during his senior year.

Ted Strong was a star professional baseball and basketball player from the mid 1930’s until the late 1940’s. Strong’s sports career was interrupted while he served in the Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1945. Strong played for the Harlem Globetrotters from 1935 until 1949. During the 1942-43 season in appeared in 10 games for the Chicago Studebaker Flyers in the National Basketball League before he entered the service. Strong was a major baseball star and one of the most popular players the American Negro League from 1937 to 1942 and again from 1946 to 1951.

Ira Streusand grew up on the Lower East Side of New York City. As a teenager , he played basketball at the Clark Settlement House along side many future professional stars including Barney Sedran, Marty Friedman and Lou Sugarman. Streusand played college basketball at the City College of New York for two years. He was a Helms Foundation All-American in 1908. After leaving CCNY, he entered New York University Law School in 1909. The same year he began his professional basketball career with the Newburgh team in the Hudson River League. In 1910-11, he returned to college basketball playing on the NYU team. Streusand’s professional career was limited by his own choosing. His best season was with in 1911-12 with Newburgh in the HRL where he led the league in scoring with 12.7 points per game.
